Tournament Champs

LATEST NEWS: On Saturday, Aug. 2 F.C. United hosted its third 4 vs. 4 soccer tournament

This tournament was a little different than the last two tournaments we have done in that we only had four teams participate. The idea was to have a mini tournament in Quito's biggest public park to see if we could generate interest in people walking by. We had post cards made with our information and used the tournament as a way to promote F.C. United. 3 of the teams had been involved in our past tournaments and then the fourth team consisted of Josh, Chris, me and some of our friends. It was an amazing day where we continued to connect with players in our tournament as well as get the F.C. United name out there. On top of that we ended up winning the tournament. slideshow

It was so fun to see people in the park stop and check out what we were doing. We were able to make some good contacts for future tournaments as well as just get a chance to enjoy soccer on a beautiful summer Quito day. Once again I was reminded of the importance this ministry has in investing in people's lives and how soccer is an incredible avenue to do that.

Everyday I'm humbled at the fact that God has chosen us to use our passion for soccer to share the message of the cross and it is so exciting to see our team continue to grow as we learn how to run tournaments.

Thanks for your constant prayers, encouragement and financial partnership. You are a huge part of what we do here.

Prayer Requests: On Aug 23 and 24 we are hosting our next 4 on 4 tournament. We have asked for permission to use a field called Circulo Militar but we are still waiting for conformation. Getting teams to commit has been a huge struggle. In our past tournaments we have had teams cancel on us the day of the tournament which makes things a little frustrating. First please pray that we get confirmation on use of the field. Second pray that we have all 16 teams commit and actually come the day of the tournament. And third pray that we would continue to build relationships and that God would open doors into people's lives.

We are starting to really look into the possibility of buying land. We really believe that this is a step that needs to be taken if we really want to grow and consistently be running tournaments as well as some day start a soccer academy. Right now we have one location that we are looking into. Please pray that God gives us clarity and wisdom as we seek for the right property.
