F. C. United Logo and concept

This is the logo that we created and we thought you might enjoy seeing it. Our name for our ministry is F.C. United. The F.C. stands for "Futbol en Cristo" which means Soccer in Christ. Our main purpose for starting this ministry/business is to use the beautiful sport of soccer to build relationships with people and ultimately shine the love of Jesus as we interact with the participants in our tournaments.
As you can see in the logo the world is also a soccer ball and is united with the cross. Our prayer is that through soccer we are able to share the message of the cross.

Quito Ecuador would like to welcome Joshua Swenson

Yes indeed, I am now in Quito Ecuador. I arrived very late on Tuesday night after a very long day of travel and an even longer week of packing.</more>

It was wonderful to be greeted by my brother and some friends who took me straight home to my new room and my already made bed (Thank you Joey).

I've not yet been here a complete week and I am still trying to wrap my head around so many things that I have to do.

I hope to be able to take some photos this coming week and upload a slide show so that you can all take a look at some of my surroundings and perhaps get a glimpse of some of the people that I am meeting.

Thank you to all of you who have been writing and calling and praying for me in this process. I truly value your support.

That is all for now but I hope to give you another update in the near future.

Prayer Requests

1. It has been raining quite a bit here. I don't know that I have seen a single day without rain since I got here. It doesn't mean that we aren't getting some sun but they tell me it has pretty much been raining for the last four months. This greatly affects many people throughout the country , already 300,000 people have been displaced due to rain so please pray for the country and the people who are affected.

2. This coming Friday we will be hosting our first tournament. It is our first attempt and most assuredly it is going to be a learning experience. Joey and Chris have done an incredible job trying to coordinate teams and refs and all of the other pre-tournament logistics. I a here merely to help out and lend support in whatever way possible. Please pray for the tournament, the teams, the refs and everyone involved and pray for us so that we can learn and grow in this process.

3. Some of you may know that we do not have a fridge in our apartment. We thought we were going to have one donated to us by a missionary who is leaving but unfortunately they later remembered that they had promised it to someone else so we are again without a fridge. This naturally makes it quite difficult to eat at home which means that we have to eat our meals out. Unfortunately this is not the most economic way to eat and on limited budgets is even more difficult. Please pray that we would be able to a. Find someone who will give us their fridge. b. That we are able to save/raise enough money to buy one.

Thanks for your prayers. Let us know how we can be praying for you as well.
